Oia Santorini

Oia or Ia is a small village in the South Aegean Sea on the islands of Santorini and Therasia. it is One of the most famous Geotourism destinations on the Greek island of Santorini. The Oia Santorini is Famous for the dramatically steep slopes of Santorini Caldera with neat sugar cube houses and blue-domed Greek churches. The Caldera is an ancient volcanic crater now partially lost under the sea. The Oia town also plunges down to the Aegean Sea. Visitors can explore winding narrow pathways, Oia sunset points, and Blue dome churches around the Oia Santorini Greece.

Oia covers the whole island of Therasia and the northwestern most part of Santorini, which it shares with the municipal unit of Santorini. It was previously known as Pano Meria. The Ancient Greek Oia was one of the two harbors of ancient Thera and was located in the southeast of the island.

Santorini Greece is a world-famous Greek island. It features multicolored cliffs, Sea- volcanic crater, whitewashed buildings, dazzling panoramas, romantic sunsets, and volcanic-sand beaches. Things to do in Santorini

Santorini is known for being a Volcanic caldera, climbing high above the caldera, is an adventurous activity. Here Geo-Tourist can be rewarded with far-reaching views across the island. Visitors can take the route in the direction from Fira to Oia where more downhill sections of the walk and impressive views of Oia are seen. Start the hike early in the morning to avoid the heat.

Santorini Beaches

Santorini’s east coast is lesser, elevated than the west coast. Here, the caldera-edge heights have sloped down to sea level,volcanic-sand Oia beaches and resorts offer a very different view. East coast resorts such as Kamari and Perissa have more traditional activities such as sun-filled beaches and water sports. The east coast’s beaches are lined with black sand. South coast is a string of beaches famed for their multi-colored sand. The dramatic Red Beach is a traveler’s favorite spot. Katharos Beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the northwestern tip of the island. It is located 1 km from Oia, via a paved road that takes off from the route from Oia to Ammoudi Harbor.

The best times to visit Oia Santorini

The best time to travel to Santorini is in July and August, September and October are also better times to visit. Santorini is working on positioning itself as a year-round Geotourism destination. Frequent ferries and high-speed catamarans link Athens to Santorini, the main port of Piraeus, Crete.
