Castello Brown
Castello Brown is a historic house museum perched above the harbor of Portofino, in northern Italy. The site has served military purposes since Roman times and was later known as the Castello di San Giorgio when it functioned as a Genoese coastal fort.
In the early 19th century, as the region became more peaceful, the fortress was abandoned. Decades later, it was purchased by the English consul, who transformed it into a comfortable villa. His family owned the property until 1949, when it was sold to an English couple who restored many of its ruined sections. In 1961, the Castello was acquired by the City of Portofino, which now maintains it as a public museum, welcoming visitors to explore its rich history and enjoy its panoramic views.
