Geology of the Area
The central Bundelkhand greenstone complex (BGC) in Bundelkhand craton, northern India is one of the oldest and well-exposed Archaean supracrustal Rock. The presence of pink granites in the Bundelkhand region reflects the complex geological history of the Indian subcontinent. The formation of these granites is associated with tectonic processes such as mountain building and continental collisions that occurred over millions of years.
The formation of these granites occurred during the Archean to Proterozoic periods. Pink granites are widely distributed across the Bundelkhand region, particularly in areas of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Topography
Lalitpur district forms a part of the hilly city Bundelkhand sloping down from the outliers of the Vindhya Range on the south to the tributaries of the Yamuna River on the north. The extreme south of the district is composed of parallel rows of long and narrow-ridged hills through which rivers flow down over ledges of granite in the North of the hilly region, granite chains have gradually turned into clusters of small hills.
Lalitpur district is generally a rocky area that has the highest ground in the extreme south with scraps of the Vindhyan plateau. The pink hills of granitoid rock then appear with long ridges running from southwest to northwest.
