Geography
Visakhapatnam also known as Vizag, is the largest and most populous city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The city is situated between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal. The average elevation is 45 meters. The city is surrounded by the Simhachalam Hill Range to the west, the Yarada Hills to the southeast, and Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary to the northwest.

This beach occupying large parts of the seafront is a great spot to spend time leisurely. Submarine Museum
The Museum is located on Beach Road, close to Ramakrishna Beach. The Submarine Museum is a Russian-built submarine of the Indian Navy-INS Kurusura turned into a museum in 2001. Submarine Museum is one of the main attractions of Vizag city.
The Museum is the first submarine tuned to a museum in the whole of Asia and the second in the World. INS Kurusura Submarine was inducted into the Indian Navy on 18, December 1969 and the same was decommissioned in 2001 after 31 years of glorious service to the nation. It has been established with the aim to create awareness among the public to know how submarines work during wartime.
Bheemili beach
Bheemunipatnam popularly known as Bheemili is famous for its picturesque beach. It is at a distance of 32 km from Vizag. The beach is known for its soft golden sand and blue water. A concrete pathway to has been laid along the beach to hold statues of Buddha, Five Pandavas, and a dinosaur. It is an ideal place for nature lovers and adventurers and is considered safe for swimming. The beach is famous for several water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, and water skiing.
Yarada beach
Yarada Beach is situated, in a village of the same name at a distance of 15 kilometers from Visakhapatnam. It is located near Gangavaram beach, Dolphin’s Nose, and Gangavaram Port. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vizag.
Dolphin’s Nose
Dolphin’s Nose is Located in Visakhapatnam between Yarada beach and Gangavaram Port. It is a hill and is named Dolphin Nose because of its headland has the shape of a dolphin’s nose. On the edge of this hill is a Light House.
Kailasagiri
Kailasagiri is a charming hill on the seafront at an altitude of 130 meters and one of the prime attractions in Vizag city. The park is spread over an area of 350 acres and is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Vizag with attractive views of the sea, beaches, lush green forests, and the beautiful city. The major attraction of the park is the Lord Shiva Parvathi statue. The hilltop has some other wonderful attractions like the Titanic viewpoint, floral clock, Shanku-Chakra Namas of Lord Venkateswara, Gliding point, and Jungle Trails.
Simhachalam
Simhachalam is a densely wooded hill known as Simhachalam, located at a distance of 18 km from Vizag city. Simhadri or Simhachalam is an 11th-century Hindu temple, dedicated to Sri Varaha Narasimha Swamy, an incarnation of Vishnu. The temple is said to have been constructed in 1098 by the famous Chola king, Kulothunga Chola. The Wall of Temple has elephants, flowers, and plants portrayed in the carvings. Millions of devotees from around the country visit this temple every year especially during the Chandanotsavam Festival Season.
