Las Vegas is a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos. Nevada is the driest state, and Las Vegas is the driest major U.S. city. Over time and influenced by climate change, droughts in Southern Nevada have been increasing in frequency and severity.

Geography

Las Vegas Nevada is situated, in a basin on the floor of the Mojave Desert, and is surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides. Much of the landscape is rocky and arid, with desert vegetation and wildlife. The peaks surrounding Las Vegas reach elevations of over 3,000 m, and act as barriers to the strong flow of moisture from the surrounding area. After Alaska and California, Nevada is the third most seismically active state in the U.S. Las vegas weather- Las Vegas has a subtropical hot desert climate, typical of the Mojave Desert. This climate is typified by extremely hot summers, warm transitional seasons, and short winters with cool nights. There is abundant sunshine throughout the year. Rainfall is scarce, with an average of 110 mm. Las Vegas is among the sunniest, driest, and least humid locations in North America.

Las Vegas Nevada is the central hub of all fun things, and there are exciting things to do on the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Strip is a stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard South in Clark County, which is known for its concentration of resort hotels and casinos. The Strip, as it is known, is about 6.8 km long, and is immediately south of the Las Vegas city limits in  Paradise and Winchester, but is often referred to simply as “Las Vegas”. Many of the largest hotels, casinos, and resorts in the world are on the Strip, known for their architecture, lights, and a wide variety of attractions. All resorts, Residential buildings, entertainment offerings, and skyline have established the Strip as one of the most popular and iconic tourist destinations in the world. The Strip has been designated as an All-American Road, and the North and South Las Vegas Strip routes are classified as Nevada Scenic Byways and National Scenic Byways.

Located about 27 km west of the Las Vegas Strip, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers travelers an unnatural neon landscape. One can follow the 21 km scenic car route through the desert, and make the most of your visit by seeing numerous hiking and biking trails. The 195,819-acre area is surrounded by the beautiful Mojave Desert and it’s signature red hills.

Once the sun dusk, Las Vegas shines brightly with thousands of colorful bulbs flashing all around. High Roller Observation Wheel

For the best bird’s-eye view of the Las Vegas Strip, take a ride on the High Roller at The LINQ. Standing 167 meters tall and 158 meters in diameter, the observation wheel is the largest in North America. The massive wheel features 28 handcrafted pods made out of Italian glass that can hold up to 40 people each. A trip in the observation wheel takes about 30 minutes and is a great place to snap photos of the nearby casinos and attractions. Bellagio Casino and Fountains

The Las Vegas Strip offers plenty of ways to lay your money on the line, from table games and slot machines to a race and sports. This casino hosts the World Poker Tour, among other tournaments. There’s more to the Bellagio than the casino floor, those who don’t gamble praise the Bellagio for its upscale atmosphere and variety of amenities and attractions. Every 15 to 30 minutes, those walking past the exterior of the Bellagio are treated to a complimentary light and water show with the fountain’s jets shooting water into the air choreographed to music. The fountain display starts at 3 p.m.

The Hoover Dam

The Hoover Dam is situated about 56 km. southeast of Las Vegas. It spans the Colorado River and the Black Canyon (that Separates Nevada and Arizona). The concrete structure confines Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States by volume. It provide power to Nevada, Arizona, and California since 1935. Travelers can learn more about the Hoover Dam with a stop at the Visitor Center. Head to the top-floor observation area to snap some memorable pictures of the massive structure, Lake Mead, and the Colorado River.

Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada, refers to a 130-ha reservoir also known as Lake Las Vegas Resort. The area includes three resorts the Aston MonteLago Village Resort, the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort, and the Hilton Lake Las Vegas. The earthen impoundment that forms the reservoir is 159 m tall, 1,500 m in length, and 218 m wide at its base. It contains roughly the same amount of dirt as Hoover Dam does concrete.

Area 15 is an experiential retail and entertainment complex located in Las Vegas, Nevada. It houses several major entertainment residencies and includes sculptures and other art displays. Large sections of Area 15 are occupied by two feature installations: Omega Mart, and Lost Spirits. Omega Mart is an interactive art installation while Lost Spirits is a football field-sized installation and include a fully functional distillery housed in a dreamlike world.
