The area has a rich history, with Fernandina being one of the oldest towns in the United States. It has changed hands between various colonial powers throughout its history. The city is located on Amelia Island in Nassau County, Florida, United States, which offers 13 miles of pristine beaches and a variety of outdoor activities. Fort Clinch State Park, located on the northern tip of the island, is a popular spot for history enthusiasts and nature lovers.

How to Reach Fernandina Beach

The closest major airport to Fernandina Beach is Jacksonville International Airport, which is approximately 30 miles southwest of Fernandina Beach. You can rent a car from the airport or take a shuttle service to reach Fernandina.

Fernandina is accessible by car, and major highways provide convenient routes to the area. If you’re traveling from Jacksonville, take Interstate 95 (I-95) north and follow signs to Amelia Island. Alternatively, if you’re coming from the west, you can take Interstate 10 (I-10) and then head south on I-95.

Some shuttle services operate between airports (such as Jacksonville International Airport) and Fernandina Beach. These services provide convenient transportation, especially if you prefer not to rent a car.

If you prefer train travel, Amtrak offers service to Jacksonville, which is the closest major city. From Jacksonville, you can then take other modes of transportation (such as a rental car or shuttle) to reach Fernandina Beach.

Amelia Island has a cruise terminal, so if you are on a cruise that stops at Fernandina Beach, you can access the area via cruise ship.
