Attapadi Hills
Attapadi Hills is a mountain range located in the Palakkad district of Kerala, India. Geography and Geology
Attappady is a mountain valley near the headwaters of the Bhavani River nestled below the Nilgiri Hills of the Western Ghats. Gneisses are the predominant rocks in Attappady. Except for Supracrustals rock, all rock is categorized into seven broad types. They are charnockite, hornblende gneiss, migmatitic amphibolite, quartz biotite gneiss, and pegmatite.

The park is located in the rich biodiversity of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. There are many Wildlife sanctuaries and reserve forests located around Silent Valley National Park such as-Karimpuzha Wildlife Sanctuary, New Amarambalam Reserved Forest, and Nedumkayam Rainforest. Mukurthi peak, the 5th-highest peak in South India, and Anginda peak are located in its vicinity. Bhavani River, a tributary of the Kaveri River, and Kunthipuzha River, a tributary of the Bharathappuzha river, originating near Silent Valley.
