Adršpach-Teplice Rocks
The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks are a magnificent collection of sandstone formations located in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. They get their name from the two nearby towns, Adršpach and Teplice nad Metují.
The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks form a geographical triangle, situated between the villages of Teplice nad Metují, Adršpach, and Čáp Peak above the village of Skály. Remarkably, this entire area was once the bottom of the ocean! When the chalk seabed receded, it left behind two distinct groups of stunning rock formations, including Sandstond, which are now separated by the Vlčí Gorge.
The area is a very popular destination for rock climbers and has also recently become a notable location for the high-risk sport of rock jumping. It is also a crucial area for wildlife. Due to national protection laws for the birds, specific zones within the reserve have been designated off-limits to both climbers and hikers to prevent any disturbance to the falcons.

The Teplice circuit, which takes a minimum of three hours to complete, is an unforgettable journey through a landscape teeming with bizarrely shaped and aptly named sandstone formations, such as the Caterpillar, the Butcher’s Axe, and the Golem.
A major highlight is the exciting ascent, via a set of ladders, to the ruins of Střmen Castle, which now functions as a fantastic viewing platform. Along your path, you will also pass under the enormous, smooth surface of the Guard Tower, one of the defining symbols of the Teplice Rocks.

Following the trail past the Sibiř fork, you’ll climb stone steps across the Great Temple Square to the Stone Chapel. The adventure culminates as you squeeze through a narrow passage known as the Lion’s Cage, leading you into Krakonoš’ Garden. Here, you will be utterly surrounded by the area’s most renowned formations—the Rock Crown, the Church, Martin’s Walls, and the Rock Temple—a view so spectacular you won’t know where to look first.
