Sidhi is a town and municipality in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is the administrative centre of the Sidhi district. It forms the northeastern boundary of the state. Sidhi is well known for its natural environment, historical importance, and cultural places. With the river Son draining the region and coal reserves that supply major businesses across the country, Sidhi boasts a wealth of natural resources. Sidhi district is also known for being the birthplace of Birbal, a Court poet of Akbar. Chandreh Shaiva Temple and Monastery

Chandreh, a Shaiva temple, and monastery dating back to 972 AD are situated in Chandreh village of Rampur Naikin, Sidhi. This temple was established by the Guru of Chedi rulers also Known as Kalchuris, Prabodha Shiva who belonged to the Matta Mayura Saiva sect for their spiritual practice and propagation of Saiva Siddhanta. A monastery adjacent to the temple features two old Sanskrit stone inscriptions concerning the temple’s construction. The cult erected several such temples, the most notable of which belongs to the Kadwaha temple in Ashok Nagar and the Survaya temple in Shivpuri. The Chandreh Saiva temple is located near the confluence of the Son and Banas rivers.

Chandreh and monastery are situated in Chandreh village at the junction of three holy rivers son, Banas, and Banaganga.
the temple consists of a mandapa, maha mandapa, and circular sanctum decorated with shikhara. The temple is decorated with intricate carvings of humans, elephants, and kirtimukhas. For draining out the water of shiv linga a carving of Ghadiyal had been constructed in the temple. It shows the importance of Ghadiyal in the son river civilization.

At the entrance of the monastery, two inscriptions are found it tells us about the founders of the temple and monastery. The inscription is inscribed in the classical Devanagari script.

BanaBhatt was a 7-centuary Sanskrit prose writer and poet. he was the court poet of the emperor Harshvardhan of Kannauj and was born in Chandreh village near Sidhi. Even the kadambari of Bana Bhatt is written over here. Chandreh is included in one of the best Sidhi tourist places

Birbal

Stories of Akbar and Birbal are very popular in India. The several instances when Birbal uses his wit and intelligence to calm Emperor Akbar and amuse him at the same time. Birbal was born as Mahesh Das in 1528, to a Brahmin family in Sidhi near Ghoghra. Educated in Hindi, Sanskrit, and Persian, Birbal wrote prose and specialized in music and poetry in the Braj language. He served at the Rajput court of Raja Ram Chandra of Rewa under the name “Brahma Kavi”.

Sanjay-Dubri National Park, Sidhi tourist places

Sanjay-Dubri National Park and Tiger Reserve were established in 1975 to conserve the biodiversity of the district. Comprising an Evergreen Sal forest, it is home to about 152 species of birds 32 species of mammals, 11 species of reptiles, and 03 species of amphibians. The major species found are tiger, Sloth bear, Chital, Nilgai, Chinkara, Sambar, leopard, wild dog, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Porcupine, Jackal, Fox, Indian Wolf, Indian Python Four-horned Antelope, and Barking deer. The Tiger Reserve comprises Sanjay National Park and the Dubri Wildlife Sanctuary, both of which cover more than 831 sq. km. The area with its large size and rich biodiversity is well-known. Son Gharial Sanctuary

Son Gharial Sanctuary was built In 1981, with a total length of 210 km, including lengths of 161 km of Son River, 23 km of Banas River, and 26 km of Gopad River, was established. The Sanctuary is part of Project Crocodile in order to conserve and increase the number of Gharials. Many endangered species habitats in sand banks and riverine islands for survival, including the Gharial, Indian Soft Shell Turtle, Indian Skimmer, and others. The sanctuary’s aquatic and avifaunal richness is enhanced by the presence of 101 bird species the Sanctuary is one of the best Sidhi tourist places.

Manda caves, Singrauli

One of the most important Sidhi tourist places is the Mada Caves. Mada caves are located in the Mada tehsil district Singrauli and about 32 km from Waidhan, these caves date back to the 7th -8th century. These caves are not only beautiful examples of rock-cut architecture but also important from the view of iconography. These caves consist of a series of caves that have been known by various names like Vivah Mada, Ganesh Mada, and Jaljalia Mada. The cave is built such that there are rooms, which are supported, by pillars and large verandahs all around with a Shivling in the middle. It is a two-storey structure but only the lower storey has survived today some evidence of upper-storey construction is still visible and others are destroyed.

Best Time to Visit Sidhi

The overall climate in Sidhi is very good in March, making it one of the best months to visit the place. Bamrauli Airport (Allahabad), Prayagraj, UP is the nearest airport to Sidhi (approx. 157 KM). The nearest Rail head is Marwasgram, Majhauli, and Rewa 87 KM from Sidhi. Sidhi is being soon connected Rail network. Sidhi is also well connected by the Raod network. NH 39 and other highways connect Sidhi to the rest of the country.
