The Sucuriú River: A Crystal-Clear Wonder of Brazil

The Sucuriú River

The Sucuriú River is in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, located in southwestern Brazil. It serves as a tributary of the Paraná River, joining it just upstream of the Engenheiro Souza Dias Dam. Outside Bonito, the Rio Sucuri is a freshwater paradise with crystal-clear, turquoise-tinged waters filled with fish and vibrant underwater gardens. This natural wonder is surrounded by an emerald jungle teeming with monkeys, sloths, and brightly colored macaws. Tours on the river typically include a boat trip upstream, followed by snorkeling, floating, or boating back to the starting point.

India is proud to host its natural marvel—the Dawki River, also known as the Umngot River, in the state of Meghalaya. Located near the village of Mawlynnong, this river is celebrated as Asia’s cleanest. In 2003, Mawlynnong itself was recognized as ‘Asia’s Cleanest Village,’ showcasing the region’s dedication to environmental conservation.
