History of Sultanpur National Park
Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary was originally a hunting ground during the British colonial era. In 1969, the area was declared a bird sanctuary, and in 1972, it was officially designated as the Sultanpur National Park. The transformation from a hunting ground to a protected area marked the beginning of efforts to preserve its natural ecosystem and the diverse bird species that inhabit the region. Over time, the sanctuary has gained recognition not only for its role in bird conservation but also for its contribution to environmental education and awareness. In 1989, it was declared a National Park by the Haryana government.
